Little Tricks to Make Life Easier

Life presents us with all kinds of challenges. It might seem like some of life’s annoyances are just situations we have to live with because there’s no easy solution. However, with a little ingenuity, you can find a way to make just about any set of circumstances better.

To get your creative juices flowing, here are some little tricks that people have conjured up to make life a little easier:

  • Iron alternative – If you don’t own an iron but find yourself needing to iron a piece of clothing, heat up a pot and use the bottom of it as your iron. You might want to put a piece of foil between the pot and your clothes for protection.
  • Ripen an avocado – To get your avocado to ripen faster, put it in a drink koozie. It should be ripe the next day.
  • Find the leak in a bike tire – When a bike tire goes flat and the leak is not obvious, fill the tire full of air and pour soapy water over it. Bubbles will develop where the leak is.
  • Convenient ice pack – Soak a sponge in water, put it in a Ziploc bag, and freeze it. This makes a non-lumpy ice pack that won’t leak like a bag full of ice often does.
  • Battery tester – If you’re not sure whether your disposable batteries have much life left in them, there are a couple tricks you can try to test them. First, drop them onto a hard floor or table from about six inches. If they bounce once and fall over, they’re still good, but if they bounce more than that, they’re dead or almost dead. You can also try dropping them from about one inch on their flat end. If they stay standing, they’re good, but if they fall over, they’re not.
  • Reusable containers – You can use an old contact lens case to hold small amounts of makeup or lotion when you travel. Empty ChapStick tubes can be used to hide extra cash rolled up tightly. Hanging shoe racks can be used to store cleaning supplies in your utility closet.

As you can see, there are many tricks and shortcuts that can be used to make life a little easier, without a large investment of money or time.
