We're all looking for tips and shortcuts to make life a bit easier. To this end, something called “life hacks” were invented – various tips and techniques that can make life a little less expensive or more convenient. Here are some popular life hacks that you may be able to make use of in your own day-to-day experiences:
- Soak a sponge in water and then put it in the freezer for a while. Then it can be used as an ice pack to keep your food and drinks nice and cold while you’re out and about. Just make sure the sponge is clean beforehand.
- You can use the sticky side of an adhesive strip (such as those found on Post-It notes) to clean out your keyboard. To do this, simply run the sticky side of the strip between the keys, and watch the dust and crumbs come out like magic. This will help keep away keyboard pests, too.
- Have a recipe that you’re working hard on making into a reality, but finding it a little difficult or irritating to keep that cookbook open for your perusal? Try using a pants hanger (with clips on each end) to hang the cookbook up and opened to your recipe page, conveniently on a nearby kitchen cabinet.
- Finding it hard to wake up in the morning because you’re a heavy sleeper or your alarm is just too quiet? Place the alarm clock (or smart phone) into a glass object such as a glass cup or bowl to make it louder without having to spend money on a new alarm clock. Just be careful to place it somewhere where it won’t be dropped onto a tile floor, so it doesn’t shatter.
- If you’re a coffee drinker, you can use an ice tray to make coffee ice cubes. Then these can be used to cool down a cup of coffee without watering it down.
