Tips to Make Better Scrambled Eggs

Scrambled eggs seem like a very basic dish to prepare, with very few ways to make an error. However, there are some myths about how people should cook scrambled eggs, and these myths lead to less-than-ideal results.

Read the following advice to improve your scrambled eggs the next time you make them:

  • Whisk your eggs – To get fluffy eggs, whisk your eggs with an actual whisk and beat them vigorously for at least 30 seconds. The longer you whisk them the lighter your eggs will be. Contrary to popular belief, adding milk, cream, water, or any other liquid to your scrambled eggs will not make your eggs fluffier. It will make them tougher.
  • Add seasoning after cooking – If you want to salt your scrambled eggs, do so after cooking them. If you salt your eggs before you cook them, you’ll draw out moisture, leaving you with a less-than-ideal result.
  • Add cooked vegetables instead of raw – Lots of us like to add veggies to our scrambled eggs, but using uncooked vegetables can mean their water content will give you soggy eggs as you cook them together. A smarter way is to cook your veggies first, drain excess water, and then add them to your eggs as you’re cooking them.
  • Use a lower heat setting – When you’re in a hurry, it’s tempting to cook your eggs over high heat, but this can result in overcooked, dry eggs. Instead, cook your eggs slowly over lower heat (5 to 7 minutes) and your eggs will turn out with a soft and creamy texture.

One other tip is to prepare your eggs in a spacious, modern kitchen where you’ll have room to store your favorite pans, utensils, and ingredients. The kitchens in our Lady Lake, FL, apartments are a great place to cook the perfect scrambled eggs and many other delicious dishes.
