Recovering from Jet Lag in Our Lady Lake, Florida, Apartments

If you’ve just returned home from a vacation abroad, you’re probably already acquainted with the symptoms of the phenomenon commonly known as jet lag. Medically referred to as “desynchronosis,” jet lag is the result of your body’s inability to rapidly adjust to changes in daylight and sleep cycles after traveling long distances and changing time zones. Although the effects of jet lag vary greatly, it is typically more pronounced the farther apart the time change is, so for those of us in Florida, jet lag resulting from a trip to Asia would be much more pronounced than one from a jaunt to California.

When returning to your apartment at The Quarters from a long trip, there are several tips you can follow to help you decompress and recover from the effects of jet lag right at home. These include:

  • Drinking large amounts of water and watching your caffeine intake. Travel can cause dehydration, which can exacerbate the effects of jet lag, and excess caffeine can not only dehydrate you even more, but may keep you awake longer and further confuse your sleep patterns.
  • Getting exposure to sunlight and some mild exercise, which might help your body acclimate to the new daylight hours at home.
  • Most importantly of all, doing your best to adjust your sleep cycle to the current time zone. Avoid taking naps longer than two hours, and try not to go to sleep much earlier or later than what would be normal.

If you follow these tips, you should be able to shed your jet lag quickly in the comfort of our Lady Lake, Florida, apartments. To learn more about the many amenities that our community offers, contact us today.
