Playing Chess in Our Apartments in Lady Lake, Florida

There are few board games that are held in the same high regard as chess. There’s just something about the history, strategy, and critical thinking during each game that makes chess a favorite amongst many people. Some people have even devoted their lives to studying the game and becoming among the best players in the world. At our apartments in Lady Lake, Florida, playing a game of chess with a friend is a fantastic way to spend your free time.

The pieces on a chessboard include:

  • Eight pawns – these pieces can move either one or two squares on their first move and one square forward each after, and they can only kill opposing pieces forward and diagonally
  • Two bishops – these pieces can only move and kill opposing pieces diagonally without jumping other pieces on the board in between
  • Two rooks – these can only move and kill opposing pieces only in straight lines without jumping other pieces on the board
  • Two knights – these can move and kill opposing pieces either two squares forward or backward and one square from side to side or vice versa, and they can jump other pieces on the board
  • One queen – this piece can move and kill opposing pieces diagonally and in straight lines without jumping other pieces on the board
  • One king – this piece can only move and kill opposing pieces one square at a time either diagonally or in a straight line

You may not have the skill of Bobby Fischer or any other Grandmaster chess player, but the next time a friend wants to challenge you to a friendly game of chess at our apartments in Lady Lake, Florida you’ll be prepared to have a good time.
