How to Make Cake Pops
Cake pops are a fun treat that allow people to enjoy the delicious taste of cake in a convenient, bite-sized way. Another advantage of cake pops is that you can combine different cake and icing flavors to come up with a wide variety of cake pops to choose from. If you are new to cake pops and would like a simple method for making them, check out the recipe below.
Ingredients:
-
Box of yellow cake mix and any ingredients needed to prepare the cake, such as eggs and vegetable oil
-
1 jar of chocolate icing
-
18 lollipop sticks
-
1 bag chocolate candy melts
-
1 package of sprinkles
Directions:
-
Prepare the cake according to the directions on the box
-
Crumble cake into a large bowl. Stir about 1/3 cup of frosting into the cake crumbles (don’t use too much icing; you want to make it just moist enough to be able to mold the cake into balls).
-
Roll the cake mixture into 1 ½-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
-
Stick one lollipop stick into each ball.
-
Place baking sheet in freezer for 15 minutes.
-
Put ¼ cup of the candy melts in a bowl and microwave for about 20 seconds, or until melted.
-
Dip a ball in the melted chocolate, letting excess drip off.
-
Top with sprinkles.
-
Return to the baking sheet.
-
Repeat with remaining cake balls.
-
Let the cake pops set for about 20-30 minutes before eating.
