Even people who keep the cleanest and most tidy apartment can overlook items that can become quite unsanitary if they’re ignored. After all, no matter how detail-oriented you are, it’s almost impossible to clean every single inch of an apartment.
The next time you clean, think about the following items that could need a deep-cleaning, stat:
Cell phones and dial pads. Our hands and fingers are constantly touching things and airlifting germs around, but we almost always touch our phones at some point in the day. Because of this, phones tend to be some of the least sanitary things we keep around us. Wipe them down regularly with disinfectant and you’ll be much less likely to spread germs everywhere else.
Tools used for cleaning. Many people don’t think about it, but cleaning the very tools you use for cleaning (such as mops, brushes and dusting pans) can be quite important. After all, what’s the point of cleaning up with something that’s dirty? Don’t forget to clean your laundry machines, either -- but make sure you consult the appropriate instruction manual before doing so.
Where your floor meets your cabinets. You know that space underneath cabinets where the bottom of the cabinet boxes meets the floor? You probably mop all the way to the edge of the cabinet but have you ever noticed the grime that can be left behind along that edge when you’re done mopping? Every week or so, take a disinfectant wipe and clean along those edges. You’ll be glad you did!
