If you think back to your childhood, chances are one of the best memories you have is learning how to bake cookies for the first time. They’re so easy, so delicious, and they make the perfect gift for friends and family. However, if you simply don’t have much time to bake these days, you may not want to mess with the oven or the electric mixer. In that case, try making no-bake cookies.
No-bake cookies are a wonderful treat and a great way to teach beginners about the joys of baking without, well, actually doing any baking. In addition to a mixing bowl, saucepan, small spoon, large spoon, and a cookie sheet, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1 ¾ cup of sugar
- ½ cup of milk
- ½ cup of butter
- 4 tbs. of unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ cup crunchy peanut butter
- 3 cups of quick-cooking oats
- 1 tsp. of vanilla extract
In a saucepan, combine sugar, milk, butter, and cocoa. Slowly bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for about two minutes. Once you remove the pan from the stove, stir in the vanilla, oats, and peanut butter. Once mixed, drop small spoonfuls of the batter onto the cookie sheet. Then, all you have to do is let the cookies cool until they are firm and you’re ready to enjoy an easy, delicious dessert.
