Practicing Hot Liquids Safety at Our Lady Lake, FL, Apartments

According to the Burn Foundation, over 500,000 scald burns occur on an annual basis in the United States, due to improper use of hot liquids. While many of these injuries are minor, it’s still a good idea to take the time to brush up on the proper ways to handle hot liquids to help prevent burns from occurring.

To practice hot liquids safety, remember these tips:

• When using tap water, always turn on the cold water first, and then turn on the hot water gradually

• Always test the temperature of the water before getting into the tub or shower

• Make sure all faucets are properly labeled “HOT” and “COLD”

• Remember that hot tap water should not be above 120 degrees (if needed, the office at The Quarters is happy to adjust the temperature of water heaters to ensure proper use)

• Never carry a child and a hot drink at the same time

• To treat a minor hot water burn, run cool tap water over the burn for 10 to 20 minutes

Practicing hot water safety is an important aspect of apartment living, and it’s not too difficult to prevent burns from arising. But, they can happen, even when a person is being as careful as possible. If a serious burn does occur, seek medical attention immediately.

At our Lady Lake, Florida, apartments, our homes are truly a cut above the rest. Not only do our apartments feature updated appliances, nine-foot ceilings with crown molding, and walk-in closets, but they also come in professionally designed color schemes.
