A Beautiful and Expansive Natural Forest
Encompassing nearly 600 square miles of protected land, Ocala National Forest has many unique attributes that you would be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. For instance, it lies closer to the equator than any other natural forest on the U.S. mainland, and it also boasts having the largest collection of sand pine scrubs in the entire world. It also contains four gorgeous natural springs and hundreds of lakes and rivers that are perfect for both canoeing and sight-seeing.
Recreational Activities to Enjoy
In addition to the inherent joy that’s provided by being around nature, Ocala Natural Forest also has plenty of more human activities to enjoy. Visitors can experience a relaxing day of fishing, go driving along one of several off-highway vehicle (OHV) trails, or even schedule an exciting afternoon of horseback riding. There are also trails made for traditional hiking, as well as campgrounds, marinas, visitor centers, and ferries.
