While power outages at The Quarters Apartment Homes are not a common occurrence, Florida’s frequent summer rains and thunderstorms mean that they are a distinct possibility. If your outage is an incident that’s isolated to just your apartment, our excellent maintenance team can be called upon to help with your apartment at any time, seven days a week. However, whether the outage is only in your apartment or one that causes our entire community to lose power, it never hurts to be prepared.
Most power outages don’t last longer than a few hours, so the most immediate problem is usually boredom. Since inclement weather often accompanies power outages, you may not want to leave your apartment, and there is a good chance that your electronics will no longer be able to function. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to have some low-tech entertainment on hand, such as board games, a deck of cards, or a set of dominoes.
It’s also a good idea to have a small outage kit ready, which will help you be prepared for longer power outages. Assembling such a kit is probably easier than you think. All you’ll need is:

A flashlight – Keep at least one flashlight along with several replacement batteries ready in case of a power outage. We advise against using candles inside your apartment home during a power outage, as they pose a significant fire hazard.

Food – Foods that are non-perishable and don’t require cooking are your best bets here. Jerky, dried fruits, crackers, and even candies are all good choices.

Water – Keep a small case of water bottles ready in case the storm has an effect on the water service in your apartment.
